About me

Shiori Nakamura, native Japanese tutor from Japan
Hi, I'm Shiori — a Japanese tutor based in Japan. I specialise in helping absolute beginners build real confidence in everyday conversation. My lessons are patient, relaxed, and focused on the Japanese you'll actually use. I can support you in English too, so no need to worry if you're just starting out! Outside teaching, I also make and sell hand-knitted items in Japan through minne, and I'm preparing to share my knitting with customers overseas as well.

How lessons usually flow

Each lesson is adapted to the student, but a typical 50-minute lesson may look like this:

First 5 minutes

Homework feedback & small talk

We review homework, warm up with simple conversation, and check any questions.

First half

Grammar explanation

I introduce the target grammar or expressions with clear examples and English support when helpful.

We use the new language in speaking activities, role plays, or short exercises.

This is only one example. Some lessons are mostly activities, while others include more explanation, depending on your goals, level, and lesson content.
